Privacy Policy

QamarDeen is a daily Islamic practice tracker for prayers, fasting, Quran reading, and sadaqah. This Privacy Policy describes what the app stores locally, what optional services process when you use them, and the choices available to you.

1. Publisher and contact

QamarDeen is published and operated by IhsanWorks LLC. For privacy questions, rights requests, or support, contact QamarDeen@ihsanworks.org.

2. Information stored on your device

The app stores the information you choose to record. A day can include a status for each of the five daily prayers, optional Duha and Qiyam prayers, and a private Khushu (focus) rating for logged prayers. It can also include a fasting type and history (including Monday/Thursday, White Days, other voluntary, and obligatory fasting), Quran sessions with reading, memorizing, or listening activity, Surah or Juz selections and page counts, and Sadaqah categories such as money, food, effort, visiting the sick, dua, teaching, or other.

QamarDeen derives summaries such as prayer, Quran, and fasting streaks, prayer-quality summaries, session and page totals, fasting totals, and other calendar or statistics views from those records. These summaries are not separate entries you provide and are recalculated from the records on the device.

The records and preferences are kept in local app storage (AsyncStorage) and the tracker remains usable offline. An account is optional. After you sign in through Clerk, QamarDeen can send the worship records and selected portable preferences to the QamarDeen sync API so they can be merged across your signed-in devices. The portable preferences include settings such as appearance, gender, prayer-time visibility, extra-prayer tracking, calculation method, Asr method, Hijri adjustment, and locale.

Device-specific notification identifiers, local reminder history and delivery outcomes, cached prayer coordinates, anonymous local backup state, sync outbox state, and derived statistics are not part of the portable sync payload unless the implementation changes. Signing in does not make the app continuously online or turn local-only notification state into cloud data.

3. Location and prayer-time calculation

If you allow foreground location access, QamarDeen reads your device coordinates to select an appropriate prayer-calculation method and calculate prayer times on the device. Location access is optional and is not required to log practices. The app caches the latitude and longitude used for this calculation locally so it can continue using the selected location input when appropriate; cached coordinates are not included in the portable sync payload.

You can deny or later revoke location permission, or use the available manual prayer-time settings instead. Your device operating system, location framework, network provider, app distribution service, or hosting platform may process technical information under their own notices and policies.

4. Notifications and local reminders

If you grant notification permission, QamarDeen can generate and schedule local notifications for the five daily prayers and a daily reminder on your device. The app keeps notification identifiers, reminder preferences, and reminder scheduling or delivery history in local app storage. QamarDeen currently does not use a remote push-notification service for these reminders.

You can turn reminders off in Settings or revoke notification permission through your device settings. Without permission, on the web, or where the operating system does not provide the required scheduling behavior, reminders may be unavailable or incomplete. Local reminders are not guaranteed alarms or official time notices.

5. Accounts, synchronization, feedback, website requests, and purchase services

Clerk is the optional authentication provider. When you create or use an account, Clerk processes account identifiers, authentication information, and session or token data needed to sign you in. Signed-in requests to the QamarDeen sync API are authenticated through Clerk. The sync service stores the synchronized records and portable preferences associated with the account; an account is not required for local tracking.

You may send feedback without an account. The feedback service accepts a bug or feature category, your message, and an optional contact email, together with the app version, locale, and platform supplied by the app. It may associate a signed-in Clerk user identifier with the submission. Feedback is stored by the QamarDeen service so it can be reviewed and, if you provide an email, followed up.

When you visit a QamarDeen website or public legal page, the hosting, delivery, and server systems may receive ordinary request information such as an IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, and the requested page. The API may also process request and authentication metadata needed to serve sync and feedback endpoints. QamarDeen does not add advertising or social tracking, but this does not promise that a hosting provider, app store, operating system, or diagnostic system can never process technical data. Those providers process information under their own notices and policies.

Optional one-time contributions and monthly support subscriptions are offered through RevenueCat and the applicable Apple App Store or Google Play billing systems. RevenueCat and the applicable store may process purchase, restoration, subscription status, and subscription-management information. QamarDeen does not store payment-card credentials. Review the privacy notices and terms of RevenueCat, Apple, and Google for their processing and controls.

6. Retention, access, correction, and deletion

Your local records and preferences remain in app storage until you delete them, use Settings > Data > Clear All Data, uninstall the app, or a device backup or restore process changes them. Clear All Data is irreversible for the local copy: it removes local records and preferences, cancels scheduled reminders, removes the cached prayer location and reminder history, and resets the app's local settings. Device and operating-system backups may retain copies outside QamarDeen's direct control.

For a signed-in account, the account-data deletion control removes the QamarDeen sync row and sends the authenticated Clerk user ID to the server-side Clerk Backend API for account deletion. If the Clerk provider fails, QamarDeen records that the QamarDeen data was removed, keeps the request retryable, and reports that the Clerk account still needs deletion. Clear All Data remains a separate local-record action and does not delete the Clerk account.

A successful account-data deletion removes QamarDeen-controlled records, preferences, sync history, the local account cache, and the Clerk account. It does not delete feedback records, RevenueCat records or subscriptions, app-store records, hosting-provider data, or backup copies outside QamarDeen's control. Sign-out alone does not delete these records, and a failed account-deletion provider request remains retryable. We may retain information where required or permitted by law.

7. Your choices and rights

You can choose whether to grant location and notification permissions, use an optional Clerk account, enable synchronization, submit feedback, change app preferences, restore or manage a purchase through the applicable store, and clear locally managed data. You can also avoid entering any record or feedback detail that you do not want stored.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or information about processing. We will review rights requests under the law that applies to you. QamarDeen does not require sensitive religious information to use the tracker, but the records you choose to enter may reveal religious practice.

8. Children

QamarDeen is intended for people who are at least 12 years old. Parents or guardians should review the app's use and device permissions with minors. Do not use the app if this age requirement does not apply to you.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the product or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised policy at this canonical page and update the date shown above. Continued use after an update means you have had an opportunity to review the revised policy.
